  3.      README.TXT: LETTERHEAD.PRO FOR AMI PRO FOR WINDOWS - BBS INSTALLATION

  6.  Thank for your interest in Letterhead Pro. This program will install 16 
  7.  graphic sample letterheads, 6 logos, and 1 watermark into Ami Pro for 
  8.  Windows. Each letterhead will also have a macro that installs the letterhead 
  9.  into any Ami Pro document. Of course, you must have Ami Pro for Windows 
  10.  installed prior to the installation of Letterhead Pro.
  11.  
  12.  The installation program is in two stages, DOS and Windows. The INSTALL 
  13.  program MUST be started from DOS. You may install it from any directory or    
  14.  drive in your computer, as long as you are not installing it to the directory
  15.  where it is currently located. All the files in PROAP1 must be together in 
  16.  the same directory when you start the INSTALL program. Do NOT call up Windows
  17.  and execute the RUN command. After completing the necessary DOS portion of the
  18.  installation, Ami Pro for Windows will be called up automatically, with the
  19.  instruction document LETPRO.SAM on screen.   
  20.  
  21.  LETPRO.SAM contains instructions on how to use Letterhead Pro. You will be
  22.  shown how to order your own customized letterhead, logo, and watermark. It is
  23.  a Ami Pro document and must be viewed and printed from inside Ami Pro.
  24.  
  25.  You should print LETPRO.SAM so you may use it as a guide when displaying and
  26.  printing the Letterhead Pro letterhead examples. All instructions, worksheets,
  27.  and order forms are in LETPRO.SAM. If you only want to copy your current
  28.  letterhead into a graphic image for Ami Pro, it is necessary to read and print
  29.  LETPRO.SAM. Please place your order using the Order Form on page 8 of 
  30.  LETPRO.SAM. This contains information that is necessary to fill your order. If
  31.  the Order Form is not used, we may have to return your order and request more
  32.  information. This could result in  a delay of several weeks before we are able
  33.  to finally ship your completed order.
  34.  
  35.  You may design your own letterhead, convert your present printed letterhead,
  36.  or have CPI Software design a letterhead for you. CPI Software will place this
  37.  design into a graphic PCX format, add a macro, and return it to you. The price
  38.  for each letterhead, logo, or watermark is only $29.95 plus shipping.
  39.  
  40.  If the printer you are currently using will print Ami Pro graphics, it
  41.  will print graphical PCX letterheads. This includes laserjets, ink jets, and 
  42.  dot-matrix printers. You do NOT need special printer drivers or any add-ons to
  43.  place a customized professionally created letterhead on all your Ami Pro
  44.  documents. Ami Pro for Windows and Letterhead Pro are all you need.
  45.  
  46.  Before starting the installation, refresh yourself on whether you used the
  47.  Complete or Custom installation when installing Ami Pro for Windows. If
  48.  you do not remember, then locate the path to the macro files (files ending
  49.  with .SMM), graphic or drawing files (files ending with .SDW), and Ami Pro
  50.  document files (files ending with .SAM). Use the Custom installation for
  51.  Letterhead Pro and type in the path data when prompted.

  53.                                   INSTALLATION
  54.  
  55.  Letterhead Pro may be installed in one of three ways. It may also be removed
  56.  from your hard disk (uninstalled) when you are finished, using the CLEANUP
  57.  command below. The install will install from "Anywhere to Anywhere." This 
  58.  means that you may run the installation from where you downloaded this program
  59.  from a BBS. This includes any hard drive or floppy diskette in your computer.
  60.  The only restriction is one set by DOS: you cannot copy the files to the same
  61.  directory where the Letterhead Pro files are currently located.
  62.  
  63.  1. Standard Installation:
  64.  
  65.  The installation corresponds to the Ami Pro for Windows COMPLETE installation.
  66.  This installation program placed the macros into the \AMIPRO\MACROS directory,
  67.  and the graphics in the \AMIPRO\GRAPHICS directory. The document files are in
  68.  the \AMIPRO\DOCS directory. If you did not make any changes in the directory
  69.  locations since installing Ami Pro with the COMPLETE installation, then this
  70.  is the method of choice.

  72.  2. Custom Installation:
  73.  
  74.  This installation will let you place the document file, the macros, and the
  75.  graphics into any directory you wish. You must know the path to each of these
  76.  directories. For example, if you placed all documents into a directory named
  77.  "LETTERS" off the main "AMIPRO" directory on drive "C", then this would be the
  78.  full path:
  79.  
  80.                                C:\AMIPRO\LETTERS                           
  81.  
  82.  You will be asked: a. the drive letter, b. the path for document files (files
  83.  ending with .SAM), c. the path for macro files (files ending with .SMM), and 
  84.  d. the path for graphic files (files ending with .SDW). If you are not sure
  85.  how you had installed Ami Pro, then use this method. Locate these files before
  86.  the installation, and write down their proper path. Even if you originally 
  87.  used the COMPLETE Ami Pro installation, this method will work as long as you
  88.  know where the Ami Pro files are located.
  89.  
  90.  You must be very careful that you type in the path correctly. The CUSTOM
  91.  installation will take your absolute word for the locations of these files.
  92.  If you make an error, you may have to wait until Ami Pro comes up, EXIT from
  93.  Windows, and try again. If the files are deposited in the wrong directory,
  94.  simply run the CLEANUP.EXE utility to remove them. 
  95.  
  96.  3. Manual Installation:
  97.  
  98.  This method does not use the Letterhead Pro INSTALL program, but it must be
  99.  done exactly as follows: 
  100.  
  101.  a. Locate where the Ami Pro document files, macro files, and  graphic
  102.     files are on your hard disk. 
  103.     
  104.  b. Copy these files into the proper directory:
  105.  
  106.            1. DOCS.EXE into the documents directory.
  107.            2. MACROS.EXE into the macros directory. 
  108.            3. GRAPHICS.EXE into the graphics directory.
  109.  
  110.  c. DOCS.EXE, MACROS.EXE, and GRAPHICS.EXE, are self-extracting files. You need
  111.     only to type their names and strike the ENTER key, and the Letterhead Pro
  112.     file(s) will be extracted from them.
  113.  
  114.  d. A utility by the name of CLEANUP.EXE will be placed into each directory
  115.     with the Letterhead Pro files. When you are through using Letterhead Pro,
  116.     run CLEANUP.EXE to seek out and remove every file that was installed.
  117.  
  118.  e. After extracting all files from DOCS.EXE, MACROS.EXE,and GRAPHICS.EXE, call
  119.     up Windows and click on the Ami Pro icon. After Ami Pro comes up, open the
  120.     LETPRO.SAM file. Read and print the LETPRO.SAM file as instructed.

  122.                          UNINSTALLING LETTERHEAD PRO
  123.  
  124.  The installation places the file CLEANUP.EXE into every directory where 
  125.  Letterhead Pro files have been placed. When you wish to remove all installed
  126.  Letterhead Pro files, do the following:
  127.  
  128.  a. From Windows, go to the Program Manager and click on FILE. Then click on
  129.  the RUN command. On the RUN menu, click on BROWSE. Double click on the drive
  130.  letter (ie., C:\). Find the Ami Pro directory and double click the mouse.
  131.  Double click on each subdirectory. When you see the CLEANUP.EXE file, click
  132.  on it. Select OK to return to the RUN menu, and click on OK. Follow the 
  133.  instructions in CLEANUP. The CLEANUP utility will remove all files in that
  134.  directory, as well as itself. You may have files in up to 3 directories that
  135.  will have to be removed with CLEANUP.EXE.
  136.  
  137.  b. From DOS, go into the directories where you have installed files and find
  138.  the CLEANUP.EXE file. At the DOS prompt, type:
  139.  
  140.                        CLEANUP   and strike the ENTER key
  141.  
  142.  You will be asked if you want to uninstall all Letterhead Pro files in that
  143.  directory. Select 1. to remove all files. This will seek out every installed
  144.  file and remove it, including CLEANUP.EXE. You may find CLEANUP.EXE in up to
  145.  3 different directories. Wherever if is found, Letterhead Pro files are 
  146.  present and should be removed.

  152.  available specifically for laser printers. All letterheads, logos, and
  153.  watermarks are created by our design department, and you may be assured of
